Madrid’s Golf Courses new motto is ‘strength through unity’. And that is how we are happy to present you the brand new MADRID GOLF COURSES ASSOCIATION whereto play golf in Madrid. It has been set up for the purpose of promoting all together Madrid as a top notch golf destination.

Such platform is endorsed by Madrid’s Tourism Association and Madrid’s Golf Federation, being the main channel to broadcast the different opportunities that Madrid presents in order to practice this amazing sport. Together they will offer a set of services associated with golf tourism.

GOLF IN MADRID

The association is formed by a collaboration between all the agents that are related to the golf world – this includes not only golf courses but also clubs and tour operators – in order to stablish the best conditions for all golf lover to come to Madrid and enjoy their stay.

Some of the clubs and golf courses that are already participating are the best of the region including:

La Herrería Royal Golf Club – located in San Lorenzo del Escorial, the third most visited monument in Spain, after the Alhambra of Granada and the Royal Palace of Madrid. Sede of Challenge Tour 2016.

Olivar de la Hinojosa – 18 holes course,easy to walk and the closest to Madrid City and Madrid Barajas Airport. This course is opened all year.

Encín– Located in Alcalá de Henares and opened in 2011, is a long, modern and very demanding golf course, Robert Von Hagge’s posthumous design. El Encín Golf Hotel has been host to the Madrid Masters 2011.

Golf Santander – One year after opening, Golf Santander was ranked by Golf Digest as one of the three best courses in Spain.

The course, par 72, was designed by the renowned U.S. architect Mr. Rees Jones in collaboration with Seve Ballesteros. From the black tees, the 7,498 yards of Golf Santander make it the longest golf course in Spain and one of the longest in Europe, extremely demanding and an excellent test for even the best professionals. The right balance between the skill of the player and the difficulty of the course is achieved by including numerous tee-off platforms (up to 8 per hole), where the six tees are located (score card).

The golf course get the 8th position as best golf course in Spain, which repeats at the head of a classification that produces every two years, Golf Digest magazine

GOLF IN MADRID

Golf National Center – Located within the city limits of Madrid and it has a challenging urban and public 18-hole golf course reachable by underground or bus. Opened in 2005, has been host to the Madrid Masters 2009, Spanish Open 2007, Challenge of Spain 2006. The practice facilities have been recently remodeled incorporating a pitch&putt and the Center of Excellence, built with the idea of pampering full attention to the Spanish best players (professionals and amateurs).

La Dehesa Golf Club – This beautiful golf club  is located in a  natural habitat into the landscape in the northwest of Madrid. Situated in Villanueva de la Cañada in a spectacular and nice location. The course is very technical of its configuration which can be divided into two distinct areas,being necessary to visit the course and to discover  the two different rounds.

Lomas Bosque – 18 holes designed by Robert Dean Putman, the golf course is considered by its geography as one of the funniest of Madrid. Located in an unrivaled location overlooking the Sierra de Gredos, this is a field that forces the player to use every club.

Retamares Golf Club – Club de Golf Retamares is an 18 holes course located in the North of Madrid, 15 minutes away from the main Airport. The course was originally designed by José María Olazábal but has recently been reformed. It has been host to important tournaments like three editions of the Madrid Ladies Masters (Ladies European Tour), and Challenge Tour events.

Retamares’ facilities offer a hotel with 27 luxury suites combined with all types of rooms and halls specially designed for events, also patios, Paddle, tennis and squash courts along with a gymnasium and nursery, and the Making Golf Academy.

El Robledal – 18 holes, located outside Madrid in a natural environment.

Palacio del Negralejo – 9 holes Pitch & Putt and 9 long holes, this course is located in Rivas Vaciamadrid Centro de Tecnificación

Centro de Tecnificacion FGM – You’ll find this golf course at the Parque Deportivo Puerta de Hierro. It’s a project involving Madrid’s Golf Federation and the Madrid’s Government to offer to all citizens the chance to access to this sport.

Somosaguas –  9 holes, in a privilege location surrounded by nature in the luxury neighborhood of ‘La Finca’.

Although its great infrastructure, golf in Madrid is still an unknown golf destination, being the only European city with top notch golf courses near the city center. In a ratio of 15 to 50 km, you can find 25 courses designed by legends such as Severiano Ballesteros, Olazabal among others. One of the main assets of the region, is the amazing climate with an average of 2.769 hours of sun per year which makes it possible to play golf throughout the season.
